To My Sisters

This week was Initiation Week! SNAPS for new sisters, (Yes, snaps is a thing, but for those of you who don’t know it’s the equivalent to clapping… just happens more frequently.) Back to what is really important, the 51 new members that are now officially my sisters. For those who get annoyed with the excessive posting revolving around Greek life, I’m sorry, but I’m really not sorry. These women that I get to spend some of the best, most influential years of my life with are worth more than an Instagram post, or two.
Gamma Phi Beta is an organization that has single handedly changed my life. It has introduced me to the women who will one day be my bridesmaids, God Mothers to my children, and forever my confidants for my weekly life crisis. The women of this chapter represent the highest type of women hood and yes I may be bias, but I dare anyone to spend a day in this chapter and not walk out feeling more inspired, capable, and loved.
To my current sisters I could write a letter every day for the rest of my life and my gratitude would still fall short. I am honored to call these women my sisters, friends, leaders, and my day –to- day reminder to keep going. Being surrounded by people who are each unique and beautiful in their own way reminds me to be a little kinder to myself as I look in the mirror. Because in all honesty college is a blast with a couple doses of,” OMG THE SKY IS FALLING.” In these times I lean on the friends that Gamma Phi Beta lead me too. They remind me that the sky is completely intact and that this current problem can be solved, pushed through, or overcome and will not be done alone.
So, new sisters, I could not be more excited for the friendships we have to build, the memories we are going to make, and all the things I will learn from you. Needless to say I am already obsessed with each of you; now I mean this in the least creepy way possible, like the kind of obsessed I am with Selena Gomez’s new album (clearly on repeat as I’m typing.) Now let me explain where my excitement comes from. It comes from the potential that is festering inside of you; believe in that because I believe in you. It comes from the kindness and optimism that radiates from your pledge class. It comes from the reminder you all give me to always be the best version of myself. So thank you for already inspiring me, I hope inspiration is what you see when you look around and home is a place you’ll always find at Gamma Phi.
With Love,
Jade Marie
