The Magic Of Fall

There’s something magical about fall: the changing of the leaves, the crisp breeze, and the permanent smell of campfire drifting through the air. I think we overlook where the true beauty of this beloved season is hidden. Believe me my heart jumps for joy at the thought of apple cider warming my chilled bones, and the laughter that bursts from the hay rack rides around the apple orchard, but it’s more than that.

The season of fall has something to teach us all if we would just take a moment to listen and see the wisdom it has to offer. It’s my favorite day of the year when I wake to a room that is full of fresh fall air, as I remain safe in the warmth of my bed. We are all guilty of hitting the snooze button and curling up a little tighter in our comforters. Like your cozy blankets, embrace the things in your life that make you feel safe, protected, and keep your soul breathing when life tries to stunt it with it’s sometimes harsh, cold hands. That is lesson number one, because the reality is life is going to knock you down sometimes, but when you hold on tight to the people that lift you up you’ll be back on your feet in no time.

The changing of the leaves is one of the most beautiful and distinguishing parts of fall; this is kind of ironic when you think about it because in life change is something we avoid. When life gives us a situation or a person that causes change we pout about the amount of effort it will take or how we are content with things the way they are. But when the leaves begin to change from green to the warmth of orange, yellow, and red, we don’t question it or frown upon it, we simply let them be. That is lesson number two, to embrace change. Admire the beauty and transformation that come from it. Change is beautiful my friend, and so are you regardless of what point you are at in it.

Fall seems to be one of the busiest times of the year: with school in full swing, homecoming around the corner, football games, and you can’t forget about the list of things pinterest insists you NEED to do before the season reaches its end. In the chaos of this all I find myself reminiscing on some of my fondest childhood memories and am reminded that time is fleeting; that is lesson number three. Time gets away from us in the mess of our busy lives and sometimes we forget to truly appreciate it. We struggle to be present in the moment we are in with the people that surround us. These are the moments that matter, the moments that are small, but so significant, and at the end of the day that afternoon making caramel apples becomes a BIG thing, because it was done with someone you love.

As the leaves begin to change, and your daily indulgence of pumpkin spiced everything skyrockets take a moment to admire the grace of fall.
