Philanthropy: A Love For Humanity

The first year of college is a whirlwind of new things and many of those things were introduced to me through the Greek Community. Philanthropy was a word that filled my informational packet during recruitment and a main topic of discussion. The problem was I didn't really understand what it was. It's funny to see how far you've come in a year because philanthropies are currently running my social life. Philanthropy is more than just raising money for a charity, it is "a love for humanity." And I feel beyond lucky to be a part of a community who comes together to support, care, and strive to make an impact on the lives of others.
My House, Gamma Phi Beta, just finished our fall philanthropy, Crescent Classic Cakes. Every year the Greek Community, friends, and family make their way to sorority circle to induldge in unlimited pancakes, sausage, and a shameful amount of toppings. We are so proud to work with Girls On The Run, whose mission is to: "Inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running." Strong women are the foundation of Gamma Phi Beta and each member's life has been impacted and molded by the influence of them. So it is our debt to society, in return to build strong girls who believe in themselves, their dreams, amd the power of their potential.
This year the line was out the door and we ended the event with an incredible donation to give. For all who came out, THANK YOU! The only thing fuller than our stomachs were our hearts, knowing this one night will make a difference for at least one precious kiddo!
With Love,
Jade Marie
