A Little Peek Into My World.

This is a very surreal moment for me sitting here.... (In my 8A.M. obviously not paying attention) writing to all of you! Incase you are wondering, yes I am narrating this post in the voice of the beloved Sex and the City star, Carrie Bradshaw. I am a city soul, born and raised in the fences of the Midwest. The first 13 years of my life were spent in Omaha, NE before I moved to Ames, IA in the middle of the 8th grade. Yes this was tragic in so many ways, considering I was in the most awkward stage of my life, *cough, cough* I thought tan was an equivalent color to a toddler drawing on my face with an orange Crayola :/. 5 years later though I have outgrown that and mastered the ever so chic contouring from watching endless makeup tutorials, which I highly recommend if you are looking for a solid way to waste your time! Your to-do list may not be accomplished but I promise your cheekbones will never look higher. Other than realizing my orange tan wasn't fooling anyone, moving to Ames has been one of the biggest blessings for me. Without that hard transition I wouldn't have gone to a high school where I wasn't just mentored educationally, but had teachers that I trusted with the more personal struggles of life. For that I am forever grateful because when I talk about high school I get all nostalgic ranting about all the wonderful people and experiences it gave to me.
Which ultimately led me to where I am right now, a sophomore at Iowa State University studying Journalism and Mass Communications. The reaction I get when I tell people that usually involve, "Really? You know that's a lot of writing?" I've managed to master the restraint of my laughter from this question and go on to explain how I am MADLY in love with words. They are just about the coolest things ever... I mean think about it not many things in the world can cause someone a feeling of connection or emotion the way that words can. I am a firm believer in following your passions and letting them change the world. Now stop thinking this girl is crazy thinking her blog will change the world... I know that probably won't happen but if my words can in some way change one persons world then I will feel more than content.
It won't take you long to realize that my friends and family are my world. Seriously they are the real MVP's of life and without them I am positive I would not be standing here today. They make my bucket full. I don't know how or why I got so lucky to be surrounded by people who constantly inspire me and remind me that my dreams are valid, but more importantly, that they are possible.
Some may call me naive but I put my trust in everything happening for a reason. This concept keeps me sane, because there are times where I just don't understand. I've come to learn that's the point, not knowing where the heck you are going but to keep on trekking forward anyway. Life isn't fair but I try and live in a way that I make it my duty to give. Although we live in a world that has a recreational activity of taking, we should give our love, our experience, and our time anyway.
Other than those few fun facts I am just a college girl trying to figure out life. Each day teaches me so much about: myself, others, and the crazy world we live in, and in the chaos of it all I'm hoping to find little pieces of myself along the way. So here’s to another day, another month, another year of growth, discovery, and memory making.
With Love,
Jade Marie
